The styles of architecture differed greatly throughout history. This was due to the time period that determined the civilization’s knowledge and the civilizations themselves, whose culture played and integral roll in the buildings’ design.
The ancient Mayans and the Egyptians shared the same engineering style, which was load bearing walls that resulted in the pyramid shaped structures.
The Romans and Greeks shared the pillar style (although it was the Romans who copied this style from the Greeks).
Gothic, Renaissance, Victorian, art deco and modern all played a roll in the variety of architecture seen today throughout the world.
